In 1968, Glen Boyd & Jim Hassell purchased the small real estate firm they worked for and changed the name to Boyd & Hassell, REALTORS, offering full-time residential, commercial, and property management real estate services. In 1979, Harry McComb and Jim Mitchell, then associates with the firm, purchased Jim Hassell's share of the company, and joined as partners with Glen Boyd. In 1980 upon Boyd's death, McComb and Mitchell purchased he remainder of the partnership from Boyd's widow, and in 1981, partnered with
Paul Gadd of Byrd Realty, to provide full-service residential, commercial, and industrial real estate sales, property management, and land development under the Boyd & Hassell, REALTORS name.

In 1983 the partnership decided to incorporate into three separate firms, each bearing the time-honored Boyd & Hassell name.

Residential sales remained under the management of Harry McComb, who chose to affiliate with Coldwell Banker, the nation's premier real estate company and part of the Cendant Financial Network. The Coldwell Banker Boyd & Hassell, Inc., REALTORS is now one of the largest residential firms in the Unifour area and employs over 40 full-time agents.

James Mitchell founded Boyd & Hassell Industrial & Commercial Properties, Inc., specializing in the leasing and brokerage of large commercial and industrial properties, which now manages in excess of 2,500,000 square feet of industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, and office space. A Certified Property Manager, Mitchell leads a team skilled in lease consulting, development, build to suit, and tenant or landlord representation, serving the Unifour Market (Catawba, Caldwell, Burke, and Alexander Counties).

The property management division remained under control of Paul Gadd and Boyd & Hassell Property Management, Inc., who today manages over 2,000 residential and commercial rental units for 150 different owners. Gadd, a licensed real estate appraiser, also employs a team of certified real property appraisers under the name of Paul Gadd Appraisal Services.

From a modest beginning to a forefront leader in real estate, the Boyd & Hassell offices have grown under the management of McComb, Mitchell, and Gadd to expertly serve nearly every discipline of the real estate industry and today employ over 60 people.
